Here are some more community events for your winter enjoyment. Skating anyone? Read on to find out why our finger’s are crossed for cooler weather! And if winter isn’t your thing, start planning for summer with soccer, softball and hardball registration.



Volunteers needed to supervise – call 780-479-8019 if you are able to help out

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 4pm – 6pm, 7pm – 8pm
  • Saturday: 2pm – 5pm, 7pm – 8pm
  • Sunday: 2pm – 5pm

PLEASE NOTE: The rink will not be open when the temperature with wind chill is colder than -20 degrees Celsius, or when the temperature is above 0 degrees Celsius. The rink is not open on Wednesdays. Helmets are mandatory.


FREE FAMILY SKATE & HOT CHOCOLATE: Spruce Ave Community League Hall & Rink

Saturday, February 13th & Monday February 15th, noon – 5pm: bring the kids for a festive family skate at the rink. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and the unseasonably warm winter weather! Free! An assortment of skates and helmets are available for use.


REMINDER – FREE DROP-IN LEARN-TO-SKATE LESSONS: Spruce Ave Community League Hall & Rink

Saturdays at 2pm – 5pm, January 9th to February 28th, 2016: Learn to skate and practice your skills through activity stations and games with the City of Edmonton program leaders. Lessons will be adapted to the age and skill level of the participants (ages 4 and up). Learn at your own pace.Children must be dressed to the weather conditions and have a helmet and skates. Want to participate but can’t afford skates or a helmet? Call Verna @ 780-479-8017 for a Sport Reference referral.


COMMUNITY SOCCER SIGN UP: Delton Hall, 12325 88 St

Sign your child up for the ‘beautiful game’ with Delton Community Soccer. Open to all those in the communities of Alberta Ave, Cromdale/Parkdale, Delton, Eastwood, Elmwood, Lauderdale, Westwood, and of course, Spruce Ave. Visit emsanorth.com/play/register for instructions on how to register online, Note that after you register you need to attend a community registration session to confirm your spot. These sessions are at Delton Hall at the following times:

  • Sunday February 14th, 11am – 2pm
  • Tuesday February 23, 6pm – 8pm
  • Saturday March 12th,11am – 2pm
  • Monday March 14th, 6pm – 8pm

PLEASE BRING: Cheque or cash for payment, cheques for volunteer deposits (2 bingo shifts per player to a maximum of 3 per family), and Alberta Health Care Card or Birth Certificate. If you don’t already have a Community League membership they will be available for purchase.
